Thanksgiving On The Trail
What’s Thanksgiving without a feast? But this time, we’re bringing it to the trail! Here's a simple but hearty Thanksgiving Dinner made with ingredients you can find at the grocery store. Perfect for your next outdoor adventure. Don't let the messy bowls deceive you, after a hard day's hike, this is the most satisfying meal you will ever eat!
Ingredients:
2 Chicken Packs or Dehydrated Canned Chicken or Turkey
Dehydrated Green beans and/or carrots
1/2 package powdered mashed potatoes
1 tbsp. powdered milk
1/2 package stove top stuffing
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/2 package turkey gravy mix
A few dashes of Molly McButter (optional)
Instructions:
At home, dehydrate steamed green beans and/or carrots. If you can't get the chicken packs (I purchase them when in the US), just dehydrate a can of chicken or turkey, as they dehydrate better than fresh.
In one stasher bag, combine the dehydrated green beans, carrots, chicken, stove top stuffing and cranberries. In another bag, combine potato and gravy mix.
On the trail, simply add boiling water to JUST cover the food in each bag.
Wait 20 minutes and enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner on the trail! Makes 2 servings.
