Here are a few of my favourite things (for hiking).
For full disclosure, I am NOT an ultra-light backpacker, nor do I care about “top of the line” gear. When I first started backpacking, I stuck with moderately priced products, with good reviews, and many of them I fell in love with. I have no desire to buy more expensive, just for the sake of brand names. That can make this amazing hobby get expensive VERY fast! After the first year, I did upgrade my sleeping bag, sleep pad and tent, when I realized my nighttime comfort was my deal breaker.
