About Empowered Backpacker
Hi, I’m Deb, a 50+ seasoned fitness expert and hiking/backpacking enthusiast. I created Empowered Backpacker as a 12‑week virtual course designed to take you from feeling unsure about backpacking to being trail-ready in only three short months.
With this course, you can stop wasting hours searching through endless videos, blogs, and conflicting advice, only to end up more overwhelmed than when you started. Everything you need will be organized in one easy-to-follow place, delivered in a clear, step-by-step order. As you move through each stage, your knowledge and confidence will build naturally, giving you everything you need to safely and confidently enjoy the backcountry.
The beta course started on March 16 and blends weekly live interactive sessions (Sundays at 7pm EDT, 8pm ADT), with recorded lessons. You can still join at any time, catching up on any recorded lessons you missed, while still enjoying our live sessions. The introductory price will remain available until the end of this first course.
In addition to the workshops, you’ll have an entire library of downloadable resources, and a private Facebook group that you’ll have access to for life. Together, we’ll overcome physical limitations, fears, and uncertainties so you can confidently explore the backcountry.

This is a flexible, participant-driven journey. Because this is a beta course, the exact schedule, modules, and workshops may shift slightly based on your questions, needs, and feedback.
